MANAGING MULTIPLE WAREHOUSES

For many businesses in a warehouse, they rely on inventory to keep operations going. Once a business reaches capacity in its first warehouse, it needs to expand into another, or several if necessary. Of course, some businesses may start with more than one warehouse or fulfillment center for many different reasons, possibly related to the location of production and their customer base. Within multi-warehouse management, there is a mix of operations in several types of warehouses. This includes inventory, staffing, shipping, storage and movement of goods.

Benefits of Multi-Warehouse Management

  • Having multiple warehouses makes it cheaper to ship.
  • Single point of truth
  • Unlimited Warehouse
  • Real-time data
  • Locate and track inventory
  • Warehouse stock transfer

With warehouses operated by different teams, communication is bound to be a significant challenge. If different warehouses operate on different management systems, insight into inventory, stock transfers, quantity tracking and any unforeseen issues may not be communicated effectively within the management system.
